Escape to Jeju Part 1

Annyeonghaseyo!

If you guys are wondering what am i writing above, well that is a basic greeting of saying "Hello" in Korean (slightly nod your head while greeting). Let me teach you how to pronounce the word even though i am just a newbie in this HAHAHA  :'). It is supposed to sound as "An-nyeong-ha-se-yo".  And the opposite to Hello is "An-nyeong-hee-ga-se-yo" which means Goodbye. Oh well, i guess that is the most basic word that i know, and we will get back to Korean language learning once i've mastered more hehehe.

Ok now back to the topic! I've been waiting for the right time (because i'm just so lazy like that) to share my travel experience to Jeju Island, a beautiful island in Jeju Province, South Korea. People are always promoting Seoul (South Korea capital) when it comes to visiting Korea. But if you are up to some kind of feeding your instagram feeds with beautiful sceneries and amazing natures, then please stay with me until the end of this post so that we can be on the adventure together! ceewahhh gituh.

Trip to Jeju was the annual trip with my 3 best girlfriends (teha, nani, dayah) plus dayah's sister (sanah). So, the 5 of us were going to Jeju on 22nd of October 2018 with Air Asia X direct flight from Klia2. We took an early morning flight so that we can be there for checked in, and then straight away to lunch and and to our first stop. As we only had 3 days to explore Jeju, we had to arrange our schedule wisely and thanks to Jejumuslimtravel for making our trip a successful one! Do check them out for travel friendly tour guide and less-worry trip as they will arrange everything from transportation, accommodation to daily meals.

Lunch Tteokbokki and Bibimbap
After having lunch, our tour guide suggested us to try coffee from this cute cafe'. The cold weather made us craving for hot beverages so tadaaaaaaa...

Even though there was a light rain starting to join our trip, that couldn't stop us from going to our next destination, The Hallasan Wetland Park. The weather in Jeju was generally mild and a little damp in October so you might want to bring a raincoat/jacket with hoodie. We didn't spend too much time in Hallasan Park due to drizzling rain but it was enough for some instagrammable pictures. Hehe. I was mesmerized with the beautiful colours of autumn leaves. We walked through the trails and took lots of photos. If you have plan for hiking maybe you can plan to come early in the morning and be well prepared for the weather. The admission fee is free so make sure to visit this UNESCO World Heritage Site when you are in Jeju!

After we were done in Hallasan Park, our tour guide Kak Yati took us us to this famous road called 'Mysterious Road' or also known as Dokkaebi road. I heard that the road is quite famous among tourists in Jeju due to its gravity defiance. What i mean by this, is that you can witness a phenomenon where things will move uphill when they pass the road instead of going down. Kak Yati showed us by taking a drive up to the 100m long road and put the gear in neutral state, with the engines presumably turned off, then we felt like the car was going uphill. The explanation behind this phenomenon is the elevated surroundings create an optical illusion that plays a trick which makes it seems like the car is rolling upwards but in reality the road actually has a downward slope. I'm sorry I didn't have a clear picture and video because the day had started to get dark. The picture below was taken from jejutourism page and the video was recorded by me so hope that might help to give you an idea of the mysterious road.

So that's how we spent our first day in Jeju. I will continue our Jeju adventure stories in Part 2. Hehe.
